I have been waiting months to be under 200lbs. I have been so close so many times in the last 1.5 years. I have spent too much time waiting till the number on the scale was “right” before I did things. Way to much time beating my self up for eating bread, pasta, cookies (sooooo many cookies). But no more, and no more waiting to live and try new things. (Like swim boot camp, what!?!)

I didn’t choose to be over weight. To not be able to shop in any store, to have to worry about what I wore, to be consumed with wondering if I would fit in an airplane seat, carnival ride, if when I went down the water slide it would snap b/c of my weight or that when I stepped into the boat it would sink (from a young age that was a big fear :().
I can look back on my life and see as an adult the choices I made to lead me to my heaviest weight of 275lbs. Eating 3 dozen perogies for lunch while pregnant for the first time was not the best idea.
I have probably lost 400lbs in my life. Only to gain it back and lose it agine.
The big question is……..what is different this time!
FIRST of all I am not on a diet and I HATE that question it makes me angry! We all have dietary likes, or restrictions and the term diet in a negative context needs to stop being used!
Here is my journey 🙂 no fee’s, no e book to buy just what I learnt and did 🙂
Most habit changes stick best when they are tied to a large event. For me it was the birth of baby #3. I started that day to make different choices.
While sitting recovering from my c-section I used Instagram to find other moms specially who had lost weight. I used them as inspiration.
I stumbled on to @lauradalphini and her 15day $15 meal plan challenge. I ordered one. I preped, shopped planned and followed it! I made changes to my likes like no salmon or tuna. Honest to goodness best money spent to get me going. Using her guides I lost constantly and loved that I know what I was going to eat all day. That works for me b/c I don’t need variety and eat the same thing every day.
now she is a beach body coach, but when I first found her she was just a girl on a journey 🙂
I started by doing 5min on the bike for 21days, no matter at what speed or what time everyday I showed up for 5min. Then I added on 10 min till I was doing hiits every day, but only for 30min.
I took one day a week as a free day and lost 2lbs a week from February to May.
In May the 21day fix was super popular and I was looking for more activity. I followed it to a tee, posted in the beach body group I was part of had charts and containers every where. I loved th work outs. Durning that 21 days I lost no weight not a single pound. I gained strength and cardio but I didn’t loose anything. My beach body coach was an amazing support (shout out to Christine Jones 🙂 @christinehubjones), we tweeked it and I did another 21days and still nothing. Side note I did not use shakeology other then the bag durning the challenge pack, I don’t like it.
I added running to my activity and yoga. By July I was ready to do my first 5km and then I broke my toe lol I took that as the universe telling me that I needed to get back to focusing on my food. I was working out for 2.5 hrs a day and loved it, but you can’t out exercise a bad diet.
After summer and healing of my toe I decided to do isagenix. I did it with success and lost 23lbs and lots of inches in 30days with no exercise and minimal cranky ness. I love the chocolates and I liked the structure. For me it is easier to say I can eat nothing then to eat in moderation!
once I started eating agine I gained back 16lbs 🙁 my take away is that if you stop eating you will lose weight, but you have to eat lol
I kept with running, 5-10km, started lifting weights. I reacheded the crap out of weight loss, Harvard medical journals, everything I could learn.
weight loss is 80% food intake, 10% activity and 10%gentics.
Long story short for working out to stick with it you need to like what you do. As a mom with young kids and living in a rural setting with winter beach body has awesome programs, if you like/ accountability and flexibility of your own house the coaches are great and their groups. My friend Kayla @butterfly.fitness is your girl!! She is a mom, an LPN and gets real life, most importantly she is very motivating. 21day fix is my soul program, I have hard corps and like how fast it is.
Food is what it comes down too. I use my fitness pal to track, I have done weight watchers buy hacked that system by eating only celery and cookies to stay under my points, I lost as long as I was under points but it wasn’t the best way to use that amazing program.
1200-1500 calaories causes me to binge eat like a crazy manic, anytime I try to do it I crash out of control. From working with a nutritalist and a meal prep and fitness certified trainer I have learnt a lot. My sweet spot is 16-1800 and I loose constantly when I follow that. Mallory the owner of Dynamic Explosive Profomance is your girl. Supportive, helpful, honest. She blew so many myths about food I had out of the water and changed how I look at food and use it. When it comes down to weight loss it’s about your nutrition!
I have 25lbs more I will be disposing of. And since this split pic I have lost 5lbs more 🙂
